does my speaker logic make sense?....

ok, i just got a pioneer deh-7400mp mp3/cd player, and it rocks, but my stock speakers dont.
i want to get new speakers that will run off of the HU, so the speakers will be getting about 22 watts RMS according to the specifications of the HU. using the info, i figure that it would not be logical to buy speakers that have a max RMS rating of lets say 70-80 watts, because that would mean that i will most likely be under powering the heck out the speakers ( and plus, i have no plans to run an amp to the speakers ). so i figured that i should get speakers that have a lower RMS rating. i looked through a crutchfield catalog i have and found pioneer speakers that should fit the civic that have a rating of 2-35 watts RMS. i found these speakers on other websites for less than $50 for the pair ( 6.5" coaxils ). is my reasoning correct, would i be better off getting the cheaper speakers? i plan on getting an amp and sub later, so i dont want to spend lots of money on speakers anyhow.

the speakers i looked at are pioneer tsa-1661 or something like that.

your logic makes sense more for subwoofers.... theres a specific cerwin vega speaker that mohawk reccomends for everyone if they wanna run off the HU, forgot which ones though, ask him... think they might be HED or some 3 letter thing

Underpowering a pair of speakers can cause more damage than overpowering them. If you are running off the head unit (rated output 22Wrms), and crank it so it distorts, you can seriously damage your tweeters and/or the voicecoils on your woofers.

Any speaker that's rated 25Wrms or more should be fine. Since you are running off the head unit, try to find the most sensitive pair - the HED's are good for that.

Overpowering speakers can cause more damage to woofers..liek make them catch fire..lol.. Underpowering them can cause tweeters to blow.

Headroom saves speakers..

havign a 100Wrmsx2 amp powering a pair of speakers rated for 50Wrms is fine..you'll never distort the signal..but you have to watch your volume ****..to be sure your never feeding more than 50 watts to them..or they can and will blow..

a 6.5"?

more specific, will the Cerwin Vega HED-162 6.5" 2-way fit all the speaker spots?
