well removing the carpetting..there's also a rubber pad there with sound absorbing stuff..to remove it properly the dash has to come apart.. I just cut mine off with an exacto..and taped it back on with aluminum duct tape and rubber cement

yup that's the firewall. What i did for putting my hole in the firewall......
towards the left side of your picture you can see a bunch of the wires that honda runs through the firewall through a rubber grommet thingy, take a screwdriver and punch through next to where the factory wires went through, stick through a coat hangar with your power wire taped to it, go to the other side of the fiewall and pull the coat hanger and power wire through, then you're all done. But if you want to drill holes through the metal of the car go ahead, just be careful you know exactly where it's going through to.

how do i get to the firewall? i know that its to the right of the stereo but i cant seem to locate it. i removed the entire center peice with the stereo and AC vents and i looked behind it but cant seem to locate the firewall.
ziggyziggy69,
the firewall is not behind your dash...its UNDER it
you can find it on the passenger side...under the carpet around where the persons left foot would be.
its only velcro that holds that part of the carpet down. i dont remember but you MIGHT have to take the kick panel off also

The firewall is the entire sheet of metal your engine and you in the front of the car.. it's what your dash is mounted to..if you open the hood..at the far back behind the engine..whole wall is your firewall..inside the car you can only really get to it under the dash..otherwise your entire dash much be removed..

To reduce engine niose, if I put the sound deteaning material in this area alone under the dash would it make an impact, or the only way to reduce the sound is by opening the dash and completely covering the inner firewall area.

I never did our cars firewall but I did an Audi TT at work.. kind of a PITA but we did sound damping in the entire car (fire wall, doors, rear body panels, trunk, rear deck, headliner) and he gained 3db off it. Well I guess technically he didn't GAIN it, but you know what I mean
