well the reason is that hear where i live the cops are always busting up the street races at night. the will chase all of us till they catch enough of us to please themselves. I came up with the idea to beable to turn the brake lights off so it would be harder for them to see me when a ran for it.

Why stop at a kill switch for the brake lights? Just go for the whole 007 package. Smoke screen, oil slick, tire tacks, revolving licence plate....

I'd say just put a switch along the power for the break lights.. OR you could go super spy and invent this device that would pull a black scarf of some sort over the breaklights whenever it senses that pattern of flashes of a police officer's lights.. yeah.. that would be amazing.. you could make you rich.

Fabricate a special container under your trunk to hold a bunch of caltrops. Make it deploy via your trunk release cable and the cops will never be able to chase you again!

One major thing to consider when attempting this. . . .

What happens if you get caught?

Cop sees street race (you may or may not be racing, but you're participating, right?). . . count 1.

Cop gives chase, you decide to run (Evading an officer). . . count 2.

Cop sees your lights go out (Running at night without lights) . . . count 3.

Cop still sees reflections from your headlights, street lights gleaming off your pristine paint job, etc. and eventually catches up to you, anyway.

You're caught.

Now, assuming you DIDN'T run any stopsigns, red lights, force anyone off the road, or damage any physical property, you're still going to get slapped with AT LEAST 3 counts of breaking the law. Now most officers will likely throw in wreckless driving, endangerment of civillians (if there are other cars on the streets), and at this point. . . s/he might, just MIGHT, start looking for other mods on your car to cite you for. . . exhaust, other lighting infractions, etc. etc. By the time you're booked, you've got like 10 counts against you, and no attorney in the world would be able to get you off without either jail time, or HEFTY fines, community service, and driver safety school. And let's not even start with license revocation, being dropped by your insurance, and possibly being blackballed by most others.

I'm not trying to rain on your parade, dude. I'm all for havin' fun, but let's be a little sensible, here. If you're going to do the crime, why do more time than you have to? The light kill switch would likely be more of a problem than it ever would be a help. And what happens when you try to impress your friends by using it, and a bystander figures out what you're doing and calls 911 on you? I'm not saying you would, but I don't know you, and I'm just trying to think of what else you would use this for.

Don't get me wrong, it's a novel idea. . . . but in my opinion, your creativity would likely serve you better thinking of other trick things to do with your ride. After all, your Civic will do you little good in a county impound yard, right?

Just my two cents. . . take it or leave it.

heres instructions, use it at your own risk...

look at the break light and see what wire connects to it... cut the wire and just wire it to a switch... simple as that... leave it on so that your breaks work and just turn it off when needed...

If you are set on this "mod", make use you use a relay, that would be hard trying to explain to Honda how your wires got jacked up.

okay, if you really want to do this, find the black(ground) lead from the lights. cut all of these and wire to a single wire. Take this wire and run it to your switch. wire the other end of the switch to any ground in the car. when the switch is on your lights will work. when it is off, they wont.
