Engine Whine Through Speakers
Alrightg fellas, I noticed I'm getting some nasty engine whine through my speakers. Now, up to this point I had thought engine whine was from running your RCA's and power down the same side of the car. I only have my clarion headunit installed. Any ideas what could be causing the whine? Thanks fellas!

Running your unshielded RCA's down the drivers side of the car where there's a nice big fuse box .. also in your trunk..putting the RCA's withing 12 inches of the power wire..

Do this.... take the HU back out... then move the wire harness around a little bit..... I.E. if it's more on the right, then move it to the left... tell me if that works...
i had no engine whine problems in my car until i installed my components... now my tweeters whine and they give off static noise when there's no music playing.. what's the problem here? i used the same rca's that i'm using for the subs and amp, for the components and their amp (w/ some kind of rca splitter).
jus go to radioshake they have a lil thing that plugs into your rcas, i forget what its called but once i did it, no mas whine
Sometimes, I can see right through myself ...

Yeah. I had the same problem with my stereo. I was getting *mad* whine after I had my stereo installed. It seems that the morons at a professional shop decided to run the RCAs down the same side as the power wire.
All they did was give me a LPF and I slapped it on inbetween the RCAs and the amp and everything is golden!
A LPF shouldn't be that expensive. Check out your local car audio dealers for one.

I had my system professionally installed and I have the whine, my car before my 2k1 Civic also had it's system professionally installed by a different company and person and it had the whine. I truly thought it was unavoidable until I heard some of these great suggestions from this thread!
