Help: Wire through doors
i was trying to install some of my system today. but i couldnt get the d@m wire through the rubber thing. any and all hints will be very appreciated. i have no music so i gotta do it tommarrow.
get a metal coat hanger, undo it so it's a straight rod.... make a hook on 1 end, tape your wire on tightly.. then w/ the other end poke a hole in the rubber, it's tough to keep it straight, i had to get my bro to help me... then when you're pulling it through be careful cuz the end (where the wire is) is thicker, and it could pull that rubber right out of your door.
I used the hanger idea except tied twine on the end, once i got the twine threaded through the gromet I tied some half hitches to the speaker wire and smacked someelectrical tape over that to make it smooth. Took me like 10 min for both doors.. My pain in the *** was the spacer. I ended up buying this stuff called NuFoam, it is 2 inches thich and compressest to what ever you want it to. I cut out templates and put it behind the speaker and screwed through it. makes a better seal than wood from the speaker to the door.

I had the same problem. The rubber channel thingy is s-shaped, and makes passing wires a serious ordeal. I took the cheezy way out - I passed my speaker wire OUTSIDE of the rubber hose thingy and used silicone to seal both the door end and the car-pillar end. Worked well - havent had any leaks or problems yet...
