infinity reference components 605cs
anyone tried installing this on their 7th gen civic sedan?? planning on buying it but wanna know if anyone has trouble installing it or can provide me with any tips. i have already bought the 1 inch spacers.
im sneaking into your post. I'm looking at the same components. I'm not going to be able to buy them for a while though. If and when you get them can you let us know how they sound? i'd appreciate it. thanks

I have those in my car up front. They need spacers. All I did was take a couple pieces of dynamat (rammatt) and pile them up ontop of each other. They only need about 1/2 inch more room in back. Then I just screwed them in. I'm running them off a RF 160a2. They sound great, but they sorta need to be amped or else they screech and make your ears bleed

slickwillie, could you elaborate more on your discovery of these speakers "screeching"? ive heard that infinity tweets are a bit on teh bright side but how did running them on an amp help you? you were running off deck power before? and amplifier mellowed the tweeter?
could you go into a little more detail? im kinda curious.......

I've been running the 605cs in my sedan for a year now. I connected them to my Stock head unit without any amp, they're only slightly better than stock speakers with my setup, and after a year of playing with the distortion from the stock HU their getting really scratchy at high volumes.
As for install I just dynamated the area and drilled new holes in the sheet metal to mount the speaker...worked fine. I don't know how much different the coupe is from the Sedan though...

the coupe has zero space behind the metal, a kenwood 5 will fit, but even the sony POS i have dont fit in there fully....
the spacer istn too hard to make and can save you hours of door fabrication (aka tearing it up with a dremel)
biggest problem with the coupe is the TINY hole there, the spacer really helps with that....

by screeching, I mean that they would hit a certain note (freq) and then sorta bleed into another higher note and hurt my ears. As soon as I gave them more power then the deck, they stoped doing this. Now they are more accurate, and the notes don't follow the same trend of bleeding into higher notes. Does this make sence? By the way, this is all at high volume.

I have this set.. finally after 3 years, got a car i could put it in.. they're right about the clearance prob in a coupe, when i roll down my windows, the window clunks against the magnet (need to move them out a bit more apparently)... sound really good tho.. as for the tweets.. i still can't use em cuz they won't fit in the factory brackets where teh stock tweets are (and i'm not cutting up my door for tweeters) i'd heard that later infinitys are slightly smaller tweeter size wize and might fit.. but haven't gotten to try yet...
