Mounting amp on back of seat?

Anybody know if it's possible to mount an amp to the back of the back seat? Right now the amp is just laying on the floor of my trunk and I'm not too happy about it. When I had it installed, they guys noticed that there's only 2 metal crossmembers across the back. Their excuse is that they couldn't screw into it. Should I just get a couple of self-tapping metal screws and try mounting in that way, or is there a better solution? I'd really like to get it off of my trunk and onto the back of the seat if at all possible.

You can screw into it and you can mount it on the seat but I think it would be better off elsewhere for heat dissapation reasons.

I remember hearing that what you do it get a piece of wood and slid it behind the fabric, then just use som self tapping screws to screw to the wood. Also, i think the finds should be vertical to help heat dissapation.

What I did was get a piece of wood and lay the amp ontop to figure out the size of wood you'll need. Drill holes in the outer four corners. Get four tie raps. The white things that lock when you pull one end through. Unzip the rear seat, lay the piece of wood on it and tie down the wood with the tie raps to the metal frame on the seat. Do up the zipper on the seat with wood behind it. Lay amp on the back of seat and drill some pilot holes into the wood. Then put your screws in and your down. If you've never used tie raps don\t worry these things are as strong as anything. And your done, easy as can be.

Thanks guys. That's what my guess was - put a piece of thin plywood underneath the cloth and get some self-tapping screws and screw right into it. I've also go to relocate my CD changer to hang off the rear deck. I'm trying to make room in the corners as I want to do a custom sub install. I occasionally put stuff in my trunk that causes me to fold down the rear seats, so I need to be able to do that. I'm going to build two small enclosures and stuff them in the sides. I think that'll work really well. Thanks again for the suggestions guys!

I used 3/4" plywood and slid it between the rails in the seatback. Then secured it in place with those little white clips used to hold wire shelves to the wall. I used a few washers on each screw to mount to elevate the amp above the carpet. No problems what so ever after 4 months of operation, the amp is very secure and convinent to access.
