Alarm. I need one that......

I need one that isn't too fancy. . I don't care about a lot of the stuff that alarms are capable of. . Like break locks, engine kill, auto start. .. etc.. . Don't need all that. . Just need it to do 2 things. .. .

1. Make a lot of noise when someone touches my car.
2. Have a pager or something to let me know when it goes off.

So I can respond. . . "accordingly" heh. .

Anyone know any like that??
That's all I want it to do. . Nothing too special. . I just want to know if I'm in a movie or something if my alarm is going off and someone is messing with my stuff. . Cause there is no way I could hear it if I was in a movie. . Thanks for any help.. .

You may not need auto start on it?
BUT YOU NEED ENGINE KILL man, it wont let them start the car, besides that i think that just comes with any decent alarm nowadays!
Clifford Alarms are good, but a little pricey!
i gotta get 1 too, let me know what u do

There is no use in buying an alarm (other than the Honda one) if you are only getting the kind that 'makes a lot of noise', the regular Honda alarm will provide you with all that. If you go with another brand you get your trunk protected, you can even get an internal alarm that goes off just inside the car as well as outside so when the thief tried to drive away he will go deaf, also as slammedcivic mentioned, most of those come with an engine kill and other goodies. All a thief has to do is cut a few lines under your hood and the alarm will be disabled, so what is the point of just a regular 'ol alarm? My opinion is if the thief wants your car he will get it, so try your best to protect all parts, not just the windows/doors, etc. The Viper, Python, and Clifford are all good brands, they have many different model options and range in price. Good luck!!

Ok, my first question to this is whats the point of having the engine kill feature in your alarm? Isnt that what the immobilizer system is for? I mean, i have the aladdin ax-2000 system, its everything pretty much rolled into one system, super cheap on e-bay too compared to outrageous retail prices, and you can install yourself only the parts you want to work, its alarm, remote start, and keyless entry. It even has an extra relay function if you want to add trunk release with an aftermarket solenoid really cheap also on ebay and not that much more in a store, or a window rollup/down module if you prefer. Also the aladdin kit is easy to use since you need a transponder for remote starts, everything just works nice and clean with this system. All i know is that even once i had the remote starter feature working properly, even without the transponder, the car would turn on, and the attempts at starting the car would go, but the fuel system will not turn on without the correct keycode from your key. As far as i can see from what ive gathered all these past few years working on 12v dc power installing stuff in my car and friends, a remote starter works on the same principles that a car theif would use to hot wire your car. Now, of course as everyone knows, if a pro wants your car, (and lets face it, who in their right mind would steal a 2k1 civic anyways??? cept mebbe another 2k1 civic owner...) hes gonna get your car and itll be gone before you can manage to get outside after your car paging you for help. Just go with what you can, but if you want the aladdin system, I have no problem helpin to walk anyone thru installing it. I just hate writing up DIY myself cuz then I take the heat when a hundered people try it and it screwes somethin up on them...

I guess I didn't say the point of the alarm. It's to help protect my stereo. I'm hoping wherever I am, at home, at a movie .. etc.. That if someone breaks in and goes for the stereo I could get out there before they were able to remove anything. . Cause professional or not. . My shiz isn't coming out very nicely. Not without a severe hernia. . So that's why I'm not worried about the engine kill etc.. I'm not to worried about my car getting jacked. There is an old sooped up first gen Camaro across the street which would be much more worth it and easier to steal. . Second someone got shot on my street by our crazy neighbor when they were going through his back yard the guy next door is psycho ex-vietnam war vet. Any alarms go off he is out of bed from a dead sleep and has his gun drawn, then when I go to the movies and stuff I always park next to cars that are worth more than mine . So .. There ya have it. . More concerned about the stereo. . Like I said just need it to make hella noise and page me. . heh..

Just get a DEI Python alarm and buy the aftermarket horn for it. The Regular horn is a 96db siren, the bigger one they sell is a 120DB syren..

I have the 120DB Syren under the hood, and I put the 96DB Siren under my dash.. . Alarm systems that page you generally have a Monthly fee of about $15-30 range..plus their expensive to begin with..Just get one with a Shock Sensor, internal motion sensor, Starter kill, and a better siren..

Cheers

I just got one of the new alpine alarms. It has a feature they call radar that is similar to a motion sensor. They also have an optional pager.

You should go with the rattler 300 from dei. As far as alarms go dei makes the best. The siren that comes with it is loud but you can also add as many sirens a s you want. DEI also makes a pager that can be connected to all their systems.

dei makes most of the popular alarms in general, viper, avital, and a whole bunch of others.. go to their website and they are all on there, hornet, etc. another cool thing you might want to do is along with your siren get air horns. my friend has them and along with the pager they help you distinguish it is your alarm going off cause not too many people have airhorns and a siren hooked up to their alarm. helps prevent you from running out every few mins, especially if you are in the city or something..
