once you have power, the rest is mindless. what you are looking for is a HEAVILY regulated powersupply that will transform 12V power into teh proper voltage and amperage to power your ps2. Check the plug your ps2 came with, that should say 120V 60 Hz AC, and then it will say what teh output is. this is what you want as the output for your powersupply, only differing by the input voltage (12-14V, of course).

no matter where you buy your supply from, no not forget to tell the guy at teh counter what you are using it for! this powersupply needs to put out EXACT voltages for your ps2, you dont want to fry your ps2 after hooking up everything and finding out it works great, just to start teh car, bump teh voltage to 14, spike your ps2, and fry it.

your alternator is by no means regulated! it will send spikes all over the place, and if you are not 100% sure your powersupply for your ps2 cna handle those spikes, your ps2 will be doomed just like all these posts of people here saying their ECM fried. all it takes is a single spike, just like a bolt of lighning, come to fry your s h i t.

If you were in northern california, I would tell you to go to a place called "Quement Electronics" on bascom avenue. That place sells ANYTHING you need to do anything. I bought a powersupply there to rum car amps inside my home, and they know their s h i t. Dont go to your neighborhood radio shack, they wont know the difference between a phone charger and a ham radio powersupply (exept one costs $100, and the other doesnt.)

find a die-hard hard-core electronic supply warehouse in yoru area, they will know EXACTLY what you need to get your s h i t running.

my friend just put one in his tahoe a couple months ago....
THEY DONT HAVE AN ADAPTER FOR THE PS2 only the ps1. i called sony and they said they dont recommend using the ps2 outside the home so they didn't make one...

but to get power, you need a power inverter. not sure about the wattage, i'll check next time i get in his car. he has it hooked up to his cigarrette lighter but i dont think its safe. would recommend you to hardwire it to the battery directly. the power inverter basically lets you plug in any regular home appliance just as long as the power inverter's wattage is high enough. even has a fuse so you dont fry your ps2. should be about $50 at a place like *cough* radio shack *cough*.

for the sound, he's using a FM modulator
