2005 honda civic dx (sedan) cd player

just as the title says, my cd player which is basic unit
model #39101-s5a-a210-m1 went dead. checked it out the laser is gone,.

radio works, its when i put cd , it wont recognize it and ejects it.

I did clean the lense on the laser, i took it apart..

Questions.

1). Can i buy this laser ?
I can repair electronics, but havent found no one to sell one.

2) since i am considering maybe replacing it, i also notices some civics have that big bulky 6 disc changer upfront. aRe they interchangable ?
like if i get one from 7 gen civic? will it be plug and play..maybe some wiring i can rip off another civic?

I know i neeed the code.

3) this is easy just buy aftermarket and put in.. dont need help here.. i just liked the stock look.. its not like brand new car i need 1000 dollar deck.

Re: 2005 honda civic dx (sedan) cd player

Check the number (usually) in small print on the face of the unit. If it starts with 2, it should be an Alpine. That might help you locate parts.

I have not tried radio swaps.....My wiring diagram looks like all the radios use the same plug configurations with the exception of one wire. Coupe uses an antenna booster and its harness plug has an extra wire to power it up with 12v.

The coupe/sedan radios have different part numbers, I can't tell if they are different internally for that one wire.

I believe you could swap any of the stock radio choices into a sedan, but if you have a coupe you might need to swap coupe to coupe.

what am talking about is the 7th gen civic sedans that have that big builky cd player that might come with navigation i think..

question is will it fit and plug , you said it should work. right?

the other question is if it has navigation, and mine being dx, is is still the same wiring plug that comes from the car to it???

The double DIN radio came in SE models. IIRC, it should use the same plug as all the others
