Voltage

Hay everybody,

I'm new here but not at the least new to the automotive area.

Heres whats going on. I have a volt tachometer and started to notice some fluctuation in the reading. The tachometer will read 14 volts for most of the time I drive. Once in a while it will read 12.4v or 12.5v.

I have researched and read where 14 volts are good. But is that not the alternator charging? if so the alternator should only charged for like 30 seconds or maybe even a minute, right?

Also, I know there are different modes for the ECM to operate at if that is the case...or am I being to precise about the readings

New battery and alternator installed.

Re: Voltage

When I had a voltmeter in my car, it fluctuated anywhere from 11.9 to 14.2VDC during normal operations
