My civic will only start with a ELM 327 code reader plugged in.
I have an 05 Civic LX with 170,000 miles on it. It blew a head gasket and over heated. A few days latter, I was not sure if it was a head gasket so I added coolant and drove it. It ran for about a day, having to watch coolant level, but then it just wouldn't start back up.
I removed the head and had it checked, replaced the gaskets and put it back together, but it would not start. I fiddled with it for a long time, then used a ELM 327 code reader to try to figure things out, and it started. Now, if I take the ELM out it will not start. It will only start will the ELM plugged in. Any thoughts on what the problem might be?
