Problems after installing new HU
Problems after installing new HU
I just installed a new radio in my friend's 2004 civic hybrid and it's not working along with other electrical problems now. I accidentally wired the dimmer wire to the illumination wire at first. Perhaps I blew a fuse? They all look fine though.
So, now the door locks(along with keyless entry), radio, lights around shifter, IMA light is on and a CEL. When I went to scan the CEL code I couldn't get access.
Please help!

wired the dimmer wire to the illumination wire at first.
Disconnect the radio, disconnect the mis-wired stuff.
Read this thread, there are great pictures of the smoked circuit on the gauges board: https://www.civicforums.com/forums/36-mechanical-problems-vehicle-issues-fix-forum/354532-installed-new-radio-dashboard-illumination-not-working-smoke.html
Locks, keyless, and radio: You probably blew the 'backup' fuse in the engine compartment box.
CEL and IMA...... Fix the backup fuse first.

For your next radio instal I would suggest getting an adapter harness like this:

Makes instal faster, cleaner and can be returned to factory easily. Crutchfield,
Amazon and sonic all should have them.
