Rear door speaker install

I have a 2004 Honda civic 4dr lx with no rear door speakers . Has anyone ever tried cutting and installing rear door speakers in one of these cars? And also what about modifying the rear deck to accept 6x9 and maybe a port hole for subs in trunk?

Re: Rear door speaker install

I modified my rear deck speakers in my 88 Accord to fit 6x9's. It took a little while with some snips to cut the holes big enough. Wasn't worth the time for the sound. Door speakers would require more cutting since there are none there to begin with. I don't think it's worth the time for the added sound. It would be more beneficial to add tweeters up front to get better sound separation. I prefer the majority of my bass to stay in my trunk but if you wanted it to come into the passenger space then you could cut a port hole in the rear deck. This will probably cause the bass to not be as good since the trunk creates pressure.
