Problem with rare speaker civic 2003
Problem with rare speaker civic 2003
I was using all my speakers fine. All of sudden, both the speakers in rare stopped working. I tried to see if the speakers are blown but both looks fine. Can you please suggest me any remedies. Is there a specific fuse or wires I should be looking at.
thanks in advance.

Re: Problem with rare speaker civic 2003
did the rear* speakers work again? or are the still completely out?
things that could be wrong (in the order of probability):
1. loose wiring. its either the wiring to that connecting directly to the rear speaker or its the wiring coming from your headunit is loose.
2. the headunits two rear channels are fried.
3. maybe you changed the equalizer/balance/fade setting on accident (many headunits could have multiple preferences.

1. Wiring to rear speaker is correct. Don't now how to check if wiring form the head unit is loose.
2. How to check if the channels are fried?. Is there a fuse that is related to this?
3. I have checked the fade, its not the problem. neither with the equilizer /balance.

You could get a volt meter and see if there's any power coming out of the HU to the rear channels, if theres not your hu is likely fried.

Re: Problem with rare speaker civic 2003
You can check the first two by pulling your deck out, powering it up (run power wires directly from your battery) and running test leads from the deck to a speaker and seeing if the speaker works. If you have a working speaker lying around or you can remove one of your rear speakers and (assuming your rears are fine) test both rear channels independently. If you hear something from the speaker recheck the wiring at the speaker, then at the harness. If neither solves it you may have to run new wires to the back. Someone else might be able to suggest and easier way, this is just how I've done it in the past on another vehicle.

I think you should be able to diagnose this with even a simple test light. Make sure you are getting power to the speakers. If you are, then the speakers are bad.
