05 Civic dead battery
05 Civic dead battery
hi all,
first post for me!
My 05 has been running great, just got home from work and 2 hours later wouldn't start. Just the tick tick of a dead battery. Boosted and fired right up so went for a drive to charge it up. When I turn on lights or other draw the radio will die out and warning lights come on for ABS and check engine etc, like when you have it in accessory position before starting.
Got it on charge now but i wonder if alternator isn't charging? Any other ideas? This is my first Civic!

Re: 05 Civic dead battery
just drive it down to a lube shop and they can test your battery, alti and starter. it shouldn't be that pricey.
but if you jump it again and want to check the alternator your self hook a multimeter up to the battery.
first after charging it with a drive around turn the car off, the battery if it's good should read over 12v 12.5-14v. (off course this is just the voltage, your cca, cold crank amps could be shot).
then turn the car on. the volts should increase. then turn on the highbeams. if the volts drop down your alternator needs to be replaced.
I just did mine, a 2002 at 220 000km. so it is possible yours is at it's end.
