Interior Instrument Light Replacement. DIY?

My 2004 EX Automatic has blown the interior light that illuminates the gear area, where the automatic shift **** is. Has anyone ever replaced this themselves, had this problem, etc..

I am brandnew to this forum, and this is my first Civic, though I was a very satisfied Prelude owner in my high school and college days. 85, and 86Si.

You pull up the 2 trim covers around the shifter and the panel. The socket & bulb is on the drivers side, twist left to remove & right to install.

Bulb pulls straight out of socket.

Pick up a very common #74 bulb for the replacement.

Re: Interior Instrument Light Replacement. DIY?

Thanks for the help. So, in the attachment you included, would I just remove the shift trim ring and shift trim, and leave the console trim in place? And these pieces can by pry-ed up with just a flathead?

The trim ring comes 1st then the gear shift trim. You can leave the other in place iirc.

Use your fingers to remove those items. Release and pull them evenly or they could break.
