what is VAS?
What does VAS mean on a sub. I know it deals with enclosure airspace, but it doesn't make sense. The Perfect 12.1 has a VAS of 83.28 litres, which when converted to ft^3 is 2.94. How in the heck could this sub need that much space, since they recommend somewhere around 1 ft^3? Any info on the other terms (Qts, etc.) would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

"Vas - Volume of air having the same compliance as the woofer suspension."
What i think is that it's the volume of air that is displaced by the movine cone, so the surface area times the vertical suspension. I'm not sure at all.

a subs VAS is the amount of airspace required to get nearly (theoretically exactly) same response from the sub as you would having the sub free-air. ..
Simplified. If you have the sub in a sealed enclosure of the VAS size..it should have the same tonaity and transient response as though it were free air.
