was not hard to relocate the deck to the lower area.
I just removed the tray and cut a hole to fit the deck, only problem
is that the deck does not sit flush (not enough room behind the deck)
I'm going to build the tray out somehow so that the deck fits flush

You dissing the PS2 console?
Most people who want a gaming system in their car choose Playstation because of its quality games rather than other systems like an XBot.

Very nice! Where did you get that recessed console? Did PinoyVTi hook you up? Also, what kind of LCD is it? Tell us all the parts and prices, kekeke?

I got the LCD off of ebay $300 (it also has a tv tuner built in).
the dash is recessed like that already (if you take the deck and pocket out)

The monitor had speakers built into it on the bottom and it was to big to fit into the space.
So here is what I did.

1)took the monitor out of the case
2)got rid of the speakers (unplugged them from the circuit board)
3)cut about 1" off the bottom of the front of the case
4)cut the pegs off the back of the dash peice (where the metal bracket for the radio and pocket screwed in at)
5)mounted the front of the LCD case to the dash peice
6)screwed the monitor back into the front of the case
7)moved the circuit board up so it would fit (it sits behind the monitor)
8)used zip ties to hold the circuit board in place
9)cut a hole in the dash peice for the remote eye (lower right of dash peice)
10)hooked up all my cables
11)put the dash back together

all in all it took me about 2 hours

Cost:

$300 monitor
$ 40 cables

$340 total price

if you have any more questions or would like some help doing this drop me an email thrashn@hotmail.com
and I give you my phone number (sometimes talking works better than typing)

I like the recessed look because then I could make some kind of cover for when I am not in the car so it looks like there is nothing there Also, is this the TV you got? link

I didn't criticize, I rather informed him that they were the same. BTW....there is a BIG difference between having the same install and the same gaming system in a car, so that comparison is not really useful. Now if you said the same thing about my install, that it was the same as Derek's now THAT would have some merit.

What brand TV do you have EvilTwin?

Edit: Do You 2 have 2k1's or 2k2's? I am wondering this because I know the cigarette lighter area is different for the 2k2's so I need to know how hard it will be to put my head unit in there. Thanks

DANGIT. You two guys beat me to it. I had that same idea the day I bought my new civic....That double din is beggin for a screen like in the new M3's. That's ok, I'll figure something else out so I don't get flamed for biting. Nice setups to the both of you guys. Just a little warning, this summer, I will try to come up with something to top it.

How did you customize the cigarette lighter area for the HU? Was it very difficult? Is that a different piece, because it doesn't seem to match the rest of the interior color wise, unless all 2001's were like that.

They took out the stock piece with the cigarette lighter and built a fiberglass mount for it. As for the color they tried to match it as close as possible.
