Adding cruise control buttons to control radio
Adding cruise control buttons to control radio
Hi,
I would like to know if it's possible to add cruise control buttons on both sides of the steering wheel of a civic 2005 DX? I don't have any cruise control and I don't really plan to add it in the future.
When looking at this post it seems like the steering wheel has screw holes for mounting buttons on the other side too :

I'm just wondering if I can flip another set of the buttons and mount them on the other side.
All this so I can have 6 buttons to patch to a device like the SWI-JACK from PAC-AUDIO and control my Alpine radio (vol up, vol down, mute, next, prev, source).

The other thing I'm wondering is if the cruise control harness is present in my steering wheel even tho I don't have any cruise control. I really only need 2 wires because the SWI-JACK uses a series of resistors to detect the button being pressed. I would put some resistors in the steering to differentiate the buttons.
Thanks,
Mat

Re: Adding cruise control buttons to control radio
I took some pictures of my steering wheel.

I can see the mounting holes for the buttons, but seems like I don't have have the factory wiring for the cruise control.
Does anybody know if the reel has the wiring inside, but just no cables connected to it or I'm stuck with changing the reel for the cruise control model one?
Thanks,
Mat
