Need help with Compustar remote starter and 02 Civic
Hello,
I was wondering if someone can help me with advise on how to figure out what might be wrong when I tried to install Compustart remote starter (brain CM5200-sf) in 02 Civic coupe.
Background:
I found an older Compustar remote starter CM5200-SF in my garage and tried to install it on my gf's car. I want to install door lock feature too.
The Civic had a Viper alarm system installed when we bought it, but I removed the brain of the system (the wiring stayed) because we only had one remote and that one wasn't working well anyway.
Installation:
I referred to a few websites for wiring digrams and connected the following wires:
-I have joined constant red wireto red white wire on Compustar
-Red Constant 12V and red white wire on Compustar wire to 12V White on Honda
-Yellow Compustar starter wire to Black/White wire on Honda
-Green/red wire on Compustar and to Black/Yellow wire on Honda
-White Compustar wire to Black/Red wire on Honda
I've also connected door lock and unlock wires.
I did not connect a hood pin, parking brake light wires or anything else.
I did not install the bypass yet, I was just trying to check the wiring and when I tried starting the car with the remote I had a key in the ignition in OFF position.
Symptoms:
The Compustar antenna has a blinking blue light, when I press the unlock button on the remote the light stops blinking, I hear the relay switch inside Compustar brain but no effect on doors. Also, when I try to start the car same thing I hear relays switch, but no lights go on and the car doesn't even try to start.
My conclusions so far:
Since the light on the antenna in blinking and relays do switch when I press buttons on remote, then constant 12V power does go to the unit, and I'm assuming the ground is connected properly too.
Door relay and starter relays are two different relays, so since I got same reaction from both, I think it must be some key wire that I got wrong.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Re: Need help with Compustar remote starter and 02 Civic
Goto bulldogsecurity.com for your wiring info. I have installed around 30 remote starters and you must use the parking light output to get any controls to work. Do all your connections and test once completed. Most units also require a hood pin but this could be bypassed if you have that feature on your remote starter unit.

Ok, thank you. Parking light wire is the one I did not connect. I will try that. So even if I just wanted the door to lock and unlock I still need that cable connected?

Anyone has any idea what the issue is?
