Power trunk release

Hey guys,

Finished installing this remote start in the Honda. I used one of the Aux outputs to activate the rear defroster. This is a pretty cool setup. The remote has a digital display, and features two-way communication to your car. It will show you if the car is in range; it can show you the current temperature in your car; and you can program the clock on it to start your car at the same time every day.

Anywho,
I want to use it to activate a power trunk release on the car. As far as I can tell, 7th gen never had a power trunk option, if I'm wrong, please let me know. I have already run the 12v to the trunk lid (through a relay) and want to mount an actuator like this which I already have, and use that to open the trunk. I would much rather use a factory-style latch, but this appears to be the best option.

I have a project box to hide the actuator in, and a friend that does body work. We are going to fab a bracket to hold the actuator in the box in whatever seems the most optimum position. I want this to look as 'factory' as possible.

Here's my questions:
Has anyone else done this before?
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Re: Power trunk release

Wow,
Research fail: http://www.handa-accessories.com/acc...runkopener.pdf
Looks like I may (or may not...) be spending the $30 to get an Accord trunk release. Maybe I can find one at a boneyard for cheaper.
Thanks guys!

Re: Power trunk release

Sounds like a pretty dope set-up. Do you have a diagram that shows the connections you made to use AUX for the defroster? I'm interested in doing something similar when the time comes.

Re: Power trunk release

get the 01 accord latch. it has the cool green opener that glows in the dark. in case you lock yourself in the trunk and cant figure out how to open the rear seats. also the 01 accord washer nozzles are a perfect fit if you want color matched instead of black.

Re: Power trunk release

From a quick internet search, I need to find one with two electrical connectors on an EX, not LX. Does coupe or sedan matter?

Re: Power trunk release

i dont think so, just be sure you ask for one that is "power" trunk release. they have manual for accord too, i thought it would be obvious you want the power one. check the diy forum if you need a part number for it.

Re: Power trunk release

Never-mind: I found my multimeter

Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the accord release?
Coming from junkyard pigtail:
Black/ brown : Ground
Black/ silver : Closed circuit when latch open (Trunk light)
White/ Red : 12+ for power latch open
Blue/ silver : Closed circuit when latch open (Trunk light)
Orange/ silver : Unknown
