Not sure what the problem is...
Not sure what the problem is...
I drive an '02 EX. Couple weeks ago my battery light came on, then the car died. Found out the battery was bad, replaced it, and all has been well until yesterday when it came on again. Tested the battery, tested the alternator, and everything seems to be working fine, but the battery light is on again. I'm not sure if it's planning on dying again, but I'd rather not end up stranded. Any ideas on what to check next?

You sure the alternator is running? I was working on my Corolla and the belt I was trying to tighten slipped and wasn't spinning, therefore, no power from the alt. I thought the belt was on secure, but it wasn't. Battery light came on because it was running off of it. Tightened it a bit more and all was well. I mean, this could be something completely different though. I'm just going by what I experienced today.

battery light means there is a problem with the alternator (charging system). the light does not come on for a bad battery. make sure you get someone who knows how to do the alternator test. i used to work at advance auto and you really need to pay attention to the readouts. it can say the alternator tests good (diodes are fine, it produces voltage), but if you look at the actual amp reading, it may only be 40 amps instead of 70 and that will slowly drain the battery down. make sure you ask next time how many amps the alternator produces under load.
