infinity kappas
i have realized that a lot of you have pretty positive things to say about their speakers. i just found out the stock speakers on my LX sedan are so shietty that i wanna upgrade them. the thing is, i dont really wanna get a sub and i realize that the infiniti kappas all have very high low end frequencies such as 45HZ to 200MHZ. 45 is pretty high to be low end since pioneers and others have lows all the way down to 25 or so. will I be short of bass if i get the kappas without a sub?
the numbers are BS. most 10 inch woofers out there will crap out at above 40 Hz in a sealed box.
I have owned green kappa 6x9's before, they go decently low (WAY lower than a pioneer) they sound best off of deck power, however the new kappas i would guess are different.
if your looking to upgrade your factory speakers, that being the only change you want to make, then you cant beat infinity for sound quality. a pair of reference component speakers for teh front will have an exelent stage in your car while getting decently loud on your deck's power. For the rears, kappa 6x9 two ways will give you all teh response you need form the back and will sound crisp and go decently low.
if you later decide to upgrade your deck, your speakers will only perform better. by doubling your power they will sound bright and only get louder.
if you decide to get an amp, your speakers will be ready to take teh power, however, with 50 watts you will lose your low end unless you keep teh gains far down, and your reference components might get overly bright. but they can take the power if you decide you want more for your stereo.
infinity is the most reccommended speaker for mid level systems due to their great versatility, just like JBL or sony amplifiers.

I'm running 3-way Infinity Kappas all around. 6.5 up front 6x9 in the back. The rear speakers put out plenty bass...I was very impressed. I just ordered Kappa 10.3T tweeters for the front and at the same time adding a JBL amp. Geeze, WhiteRabbit hit the nail on the head as far as my setup. Okay,,well if you want bass and no subs..you need an amp and Blaupunkt OdWA 6x9's in the rear.. i ran these for ashort period of time in my old Hyundai Sonata I had.. They have about the best Bass response you can get from 6X9's and they are Dual voice coil 6X9's. You can amp just the woofer for low frequency responce and play the midrange and tweets off your HU.,,Get Infinity Kappa 6.5's for the front.. Blaupunkt OdWA 6x9's for the rear (will not properly clear the magnets without modification however) and a nice 50Wrs x4 amp to power the fronts and rear woofers..run the rear mids off the HU......

i already upgraded my receiver a while back. its time for me to take the next step and upgrade my stock speakers. as for the frequencies, why does infinity advertise the mas being so high?? it might give ppl the impresion that they deliver no bass. also, what other brands do u guys recommend cuz the inifinitis are quite expensive.

they aren't the best..but they're pretty good..and they do give you alot more low end extension..about equal to that of kicker 8" Free air subs..and still offer some pretty clean midrange reinforcement for some rear fill.. and knock it off about me being some kinda god or any crap like that...

what kind of real world low bass extension were you getting running them? i cant imagine any 6x9 keeping up with a half decent 8".....

well they'll keep up with the free air 8's.. not that actual 8's that belong in enclosures.. both have about the same cone area.. about 2Sq.In difference..and the Blau ODWA's have 8mm Excursion over the Free airs 7 .. so it kinda evens out..

what size spacer is necessary for the 6.5 kappas on a coupe?
I've got infinity reference components up front, running off my nak deck. A little bright for my taste. i might have to go to some focals or something before i amp them, i dunno. also, bass isn't so great. mine at least are intended for use with a sub.
