Did Infinity Kappa 63.3's up front...

Well, despite the impossible "square hole round speaker" problem...I just put Infinity Kappa's up front. Wasn't terribly bad. I had to trim about one inch of metal off the the stock opening. I used an electric dremel to cut...took awhile but did the job. Drilling holes was easy...the metal's pretty thin. You have to use the spacer that came with the speakers or the window will hit the magnet on the way down. That's it...just an FYI.

This is what I wanted to know. I looked in Crutchfield and saw that those and the components are both 2 1/16 inch. I want to buy the components, and wanted to know if they would fit for sure, even with a little bit of modification.

Nope, the 3-ways. I used the spacer that came with the speakers so the window wouldn't hit them on the way down.

Okay.. in all the 2k1 civics I've installed in the holes are round though ... With the spacers your shouldnt't have had to cut anything. I Have 6.5" Focals in my doors. Never cut any metal..and the Focals have about as big a magnet as they come for Midbasses.

Cheers

Nope, I definately needed to cut out the holes. The plastic "frame" around the speaker made it impossible to fit the speaker more than an inch into the stock hole.

Currently I'm running a Blaupunkt Hamburg (45Wx4) into Infinity 3-ways in front and back. Sounds pretty damn good, but I definately need an amp. Jacking the volume leads to some serious distortion.

I know everyone says "don't put 3-ways in the back" but it doesn't bother me at all. I just put the fade one notch towards the front and it sounds great. I love how the highs on tickle my ear .
