Dash Signal Light Not Working
Dash Signal Light Not Working
Hello all,
I am having an issue with the the instrument panel. My left hand signal light is not lighting up with the turn signal pressed or the hazard lights on. Also the tach, speedometer and gas gauges have dim lit spots as well. Temp gauge is the only one that is fully lit at night. All the other lights within the console seem to work fine and all exterior lights work fine as well. I checked in the haynes manual and there is no mention of this stuff in there so any help would be greatly appreciated.

there's a bunch of small bulbs on the back of the instrument cluster. You probably have a bunch burned out.
You have to remove 5 screws and 2 plugs to take out the instrument cluster: 2 black tapping screws on the black piece in front of the instrument cluster, 2 brass colored machine screws holding down the bottom of the instrument cluster itself, and one black tapping screw holding the top of the cluster in.
To remove the bulb bases, you have to twist them 90° CCW. I think they're size 74 bulbs or something like that.

there's a red coating on the back of the original meter.. face.. i guess you'd call it.
I'm assuming this is the look you're aiming for?

complete pain in the *** mod, if you ask me. The needles pissed me off the most to get set right again. Rubbing alcohol took the red coating off my original needles nicely. I have an overlay for the numbers, and LED bulbs (5 of them, from v-leds.com) lighting the needles. I also put one of the bulbs (since they're sold in pairs) in the odometer spot, and even with the red filter, it comes out blue.. dim as hell, but blue nonetheless.
