Where to wire lights that go off/on when door open?
Where to wire lights that go off/on when door open?
Okay so I've got a few LED lights that I want to install under the dash, and I want to wire them up so that they come on when the door opens (or whenever the dome light is on, if that isn't too difficult).
I'm a wiring guru by no means so I'm looking for the easiest and simplest way possible for me to do this without screwing it up.
Any ideas? Would a fuse tap be the simplest? Is there a dedicated fuse just for that?

I tapped in at the connector for the EX model lighted ignition key slot, under the column covers.
btw the column covers latching tabs are easily broken.
Wire colors are Pin 6 = WHT/BLU
Pin 5 = WHT/BLK

So how exactly do you wire it up? Isn't there a connector on the end? Is it just an empty connector under there or is it included with a bunch of other wires?
Positive to the power wire, negative to ground? *shrug*
I'm such a noob, lol.

There is a green connector going to ignition switch with other wires. The 2 wires mentioned are going into the connector (not connected to anything on other side on LX)
Easiest to tap into the wires. I sliced the insulation, wrapped the tap wires around soldered and taped.
Once you have the pair keep them as a pair to power your leds (don't ground either)
You will need to determine polarity. Once you have your tapped in pair of wires, measure with meter or use the leds you have to determine.
The source voltage for this circuit is fed through the multiplex, please use caution when working with wiring to avoid shorts that could damage mpx.
The lights will light whenever any door is open and will fade like the dome.

Okay... I'll give it a try in the morning.
Any idea how to get the plastic cover off? Is that all that needs to come off to access the wires?

2 or 3 screws in the bottom cover 1st.
IIRC push inward on the bottom cover at the seams where the top and bottom covers meet, the top has some [_] type latches that mates with the bottom.
