2002 lx keyless entry question

My girlfriend just got a 2002 civic LX. I want to install keyless entry and have done it with aftermarket systems in the past but wanted to know if anyone knew if there was an easy way to install factory system? I read all 6th gen lx and ex's had everything in place for keyless just not necessarily hooked up. Is this true for the 7th gen? If not any recommendations? Thanks.

I know my 02 LX had keyless entry from the factory so you might only need the remotes...

Re: 2002 lx keyless entry question

i looked at doing it and the cost wasn't justifiable compared to an aftermarket alarm system. the OEM keyless was going to be about $200 in parts (remotes may have been more, can't remember) and then it was $50-100 to program everything at the dealer even if you installed yourself. to go to OEM alarm was going to be around $400 for parts and programming. i went with a Viper alarm and paid $200 installed so now i have keyless and an alarm. the harnesses are already there on LX and EX, but parts, installation, and programming make the OEM system impractical compared to aftermarket for me.

Re: 2002 lx keyless entry question

I got one of the keyless only systems from Crutchfield around $65. Had a good range and worked well. You can access the lock/unlock wires at the drivers side kick panel. Since you have power locks it is pretty simple.
