No high beams, 02 ex coup
No high beams, 02 ex coup
I have a 02 ex coup, the high beams don’t work. When I push the lever forward the lights go out, strange. I just bought this car as-is from a lot but neglected to check the High beams before taking delivery, so now it’s my problem. Other than checking the bulbs and fuses, does anyone here have a suggestion?
Thanks,
Jay

the lo beams going off is normal, you can only have one or the other on at the same time. but if hi beams dont work at all, then it could be a bad switch. check the wiring in the back of the bulb, sometimes it gets loose and jiggling it will make them turn on.

Check your relay in your engine bay's fuse box. Its the one on the top right. Swap it with one just like it- I think the horn relay is the same- then test the highbeams. Does it work?
Re: No high beams, 02 ex coup
I just checked the relay; it has a different number on it than the others but has same plug and schematic diagram on side. Checked continuity between contacts, its weak but same as others. Tried one of the other relays anyways, no go.

I’m thinking the previous owner had HIDs on this car, sold the HIDs and put back the original head light assembles. I’m thinking this because there is a lot of moister in the head lights, like they were tossed out behind the shed and re-installed for sale..the HIDs were sold separately. Just a guess....

I replaced the switch today, which fixed the problem.
Broke some the tabs on the plastic top piece of the column, secured it in place with a couple drops of super glue, should hold fine...
