Positive battery clamp rusted
Positive battery clamp rusted
The screw and nut that holds the positive clamp that clamps on to the battery rusted and stripped. Is there any way to take that nut off or any inexpensive remedy? How much is to replace that wire? I heard using a vice grip might work but there is so little room around the nut. Thanks in advance!
Re: Positive battery clamp rusted
Try so rust remover and let it soak on there for a few minutes, then try a 10mm (I think) 6 point wrench. That should work, and if you just need to replace the terminal it shouldn't be too expensive but if you need to replace the whole cable and you want to get genuine parts it'll be hella expensive. Here's what I found (http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...layCatalogid=0)
That's a good website for genuine parts.

Re: Positive battery clamp rusted
if the nut won't come off, get a dremel and cutting disc. might be the only way to do it. my concern would be the sparks around the battery........
at any rate, get the terminal off, then you can buy a new clamp from autozone or get a fancy audio type clamp. cut the wires off the old one as close to the clamp as possible so you don't shorten the wires. then strip the wires and put the new clamp on. i replaced my stock positive connector a long time ago for my audio system to give more connection points instead of stacking up ring lugs and looking like crap.
