Re: Need Help? Let Me Know

Worked on another car yesterday. This one I got involved in working with bondo. I am still working on the pods and going to get paint soon for them but I do not think they came out bad for a first time.

Hi there,

I am new to the forum but have looked for answers to my question before posting now. I have very basic knowledge of vehicles and how to mess with them and fix them up. Anyway, I bought a Pioneer FH-8000BT stereo to replace my factory stereo in my 2000 Honda Civic EX and my boyfriend said that he could do the install. Well we have everything all hooked up and the stereo won't turn on, my dash lights won't come on, and the bell that tells me I left my headlights on does not work. I have an appointment set up with Best Buy to finish the install on Friday for $100! So I thought I would see if anyone can help me figure it out before then. I think we got hung up on the wiring. He cut off the wire harness for the car wires so using that is not an option. We used the following chart to try to match up the wires between the factory and new stereo, but some of the factory colors were different than what the chart stated:

Pin What It Is In Dash Wire Color Equivalent Wire Color
A Right Front Spkr (-) Brown w/ Black Stripe Gray w/ Black Stripe
B Right Front Spkr (+) Red w/ Green Stripe Gray
C Right Rear Spkr (-) Brown w/ White Stripe Purple w/ Black Stripe
D Right Rear Spkr (+) Red w/ Yellow Stripe Purple
E Do Not Use
F Do Not Use
G Do Not Use
H Dash Light Dimmer Wire Orange
I Honda Amp Ground Wire
J Left Front Spkr (-) Gray w/ Black Stripe White w/ Black Stripe
K Left Front Spkr (+) Blue w/ Green Stripe White
L Left Rear Spkr (-) Gray w/ White Stripe Green w/ Black Stripe
M Left Rear Spkr (+) Blue w/ Yellow Stripe Green w/ Black Stripe
N Ground Wire Black Black
O +12 Volt Ignition Wire Yellow w/ Red Stripe Red
P +12 Volt Battery Wire White w/ Yellow Stripe Yellow

Also, I have a wire on the new stereo for the remote control and can't figure out where the heck that would go. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Re: Need Help? Let Me Know

Hello,

I have a 2 door coupe 2004 Honda Civic. I want to install 2 12" Alpine Type E subwoofers, a pioneer amp, a capicator, an Alpine CD deck, and 2 3way Infinity component speakers (for the back). I live in Washington DC. First off, I am wondering if all of this will actually fit in my car, and second if it could... could you do it? Thank you

Re: Need Help? Let Me Know

i just went through your 740 build thread. nice work. and you were right to tap into the pre outs from the head unit. one pic it looked like you were putting a LOC in and i said, "oh no! you don't want that!" LOL i'm getting ready to do an overhaul on my 330i. it's got the Harman Kardon system in it and i hate it. i already fiberglassed some sub boxes to mount in the stock 6x9 sub locations and dropped in some JL Audio 6w3's. i never would have thought 6.5" subs could hit so hard! next is a 4 channel amp, components up front and coax in the rear. the final setup will be all JL Audio:

G1300 300w mono amp
2 - 6w3 subwoofers
G4500 500w 4-channel amp
Evolution C2-525 2-Way Component System up front
Evolution C2-525x Coaxials in the rear

i've got the amps, crossovers and a power distro mounted on a carpeted board, so i'll still have full use of the trunk. the subs are mounted up under the rear deck. rather than tapping into the factory wires, i found a dead amp on ebay for $20 shipped and desoldered the male connector off the PCB. then i soldered all my RCA's and speaker wires onto that. so the car will be very easy to put back to stock if i want to remove the system to sell the car. i can post pics when i'm done if you're interested.

You know any good way to learn more about car audio? I want to upgrade from stock (who likes stock), but I have no knowledge of car audio or what to get. I'm willing to learn and take the time to.
