power control wire

does anyone know what color wire i should hook up the power control wire to for my amp from the back of the HU? Its a 2005 civic ex special edition so it has the upgraded radio which doesnt use the same wire harness as the non special edition

it doesnt matter really. just any power source that will have current when you want your amp to turn on. you can just loop your remote wire to a fuse in the fuse box that is on when your car is on. or you can wire it to the cig lighter. just giving you some options.

And if your going to do that, easiest is to get the power from the lighter socket.

okay. sounds good, can i just splice the positive wire going to the cig lighter or should i loop it threw a fuse? or either one?

I think its best to loop it through a fuse, just in case something happens.

I'm going to revive this thread for continuity instead of starting a new one. I have the same question. Have a stock HU in a 2005 EX SE and going to hook an amp up to it. Need a remote wire to power the amp. I'm not entirely sure what it means to "loop it through the fuse." Could someone explain that, or tell me how to hook it up to the accessory port (don't have a cigarrette lighter, just the port that can be used to charge cell phones etc).
