Just got a 2001 LX sedan from my sister. Everything on the car worked great except the tape deck. My niece decided that it would make a good piggy bank and dropped and couple handful of coins into the mechanism. I bought a tool to extract the coins. I had the majority of the coins out and the tape deck was working, but got overly ambitious and went for the last couple. I must have hit something within the radio, as it is now completely dead.

On top of the radio being dead, I am getting unusual behavior from the locks and interior lights. The power locks only work when the car is on and the door is closed. The interior light works only if you swich the light on. It no longer turns on when you unlock the door, nor does it turn off and dim when you turn the car off.

I checked the fuses for the power locks, interior light, and the radio and they all look good. I'm borrowing a volt meter from a friend today to make sure the fuses are good. I suspect that they are. Has anyone else experienced a similar problem and know the potential solution? I'd appreciate any advice.

Sure enough... #9 fuse under the hood was the issue. Replaced it and everything is back to normal, including the radio. Thanks again!
