I have changed my mind after doing some research and talking to some guys around town. Instead of a Kicker baric(the only sub's i've ever owned.) I have made up my mind to give JL a try. I'm going to get one of the W6 seires subs. I was told that all I needed in my car was a W6 10v2. But i have checked around and I can get a W6 12 for just a little bit more money that the 10 inch. I know that i will probably have to get a bigger amp if i get the 12 inch(400watt RMS @4OHMS). I also found a 12 inch W6 that my buddy has and he said he sell it for $300 so he was a W7, but is this to much for our cars? what do you guys think about this?

i have a 12 W& and for 300 i would get the 12 W6 thats a good price. i only have the 5/1.2v amp and ll the way up thats plenty for the car. it rattle bad enough without tuning the amp all the way up but 300 is a good price as long as its in good condition and has the box with it.

i will build my own box probably. But has anyone seen the new H.O. boxes for the W6&W7 that JL makes? They are really small but the audio shop i talked to said that it was designed just for the W6 sub and that it was going to be better than anything since it was made for the sub. he said it was like $150 but if he custom made a box like it that he would charge like $400 or $500 to build it.

if you get the w6 sub, i would suggest you get the JL box MADE for the w6 sub. its a ported design, specifically for that sub. yes, you can make your own, but i can bet money on it that it wont sound nearly as good as the one JL designed for it. just my .02.

i have 3 10w6 in my car and its outta control. love them and they are in a sealed box i wanna change it to a ported box though.

I'm running a 12" W6. I had them just build a box to recommended specs. My advice, although it might be fun and all to build one yourself, I'd have someone else build it to exact specs so you don't have to worry about it.

yeah if you get the JL either one go with the JL box. i have a W3 DVC in my acura with the bandpass box from JL and i wanted to put it in an enclosed box so i made one, was pretty good but then it sounded like junk so i cranked more power to it (MTX Mono-D 1000w/500rmsx1) still was horrible so i put it back in the bandpass box and enjoyed myself.
