Suggestions on how to add extra speakers
Suggestions on how to add extra speakers
What up guys....i currently have 2 6.5 kickers on my doors...2 6x9 alpines in the rear....and they are being amped by an alpine. ALso have 2 12" type r subs amped by a jbl 1200.1 amp....Anyway i want to add 2 extra 6.5's and 2 extra 6x9's and then amp them....Does anyone know any possible places i can mount these??????? I've heard something about the kickpanels but not sure...i searched but could find any good suggestions. I upgraged my battery and alternator so i wont have problems having 3 amps in my car.

Re: Suggestions on how to add extra speakers
More speakers doesnt mean better sound quality... infact it will probably sound worse. Those speakers are too much for the car, its such a small space- 2 up front and 2 in the back are ideal. If you want, and dont have them- get tweeters for high end... put them in the footwells if you must add them, but they will be in the way.

Its a coupe..im not really satisfied with 4 speakers...that's why i want to add more....my car has stock tweeters on the door...can those be replaced?

Re: Suggestions on how to add extra speakers
If you are going to use kick panels at all, use them INSTEAD of the door mounting for speakers. Optimally, without kick pannels I would just use a pair of components with the tweeters in the a pillar or next to the door handle, flush mounted, and the woofers in the door like stock.
This of course is just my opinion, you are only limited by your imagination and the laws of acoustics.

Re: Suggestions on how to add extra speakers
Get component 5 1/4s for the front. They will come with a tweeter, reg speaker and a crossover. They sound MUCH better than normal speakers and the tweeter can go in the factory spot. Turn the amp up if you want your speakers to be louder. If thats not loud enough get a better amp. Actaully you may want to turn the subs amp down then turn the volume up more, this will allow for the same bass level from the subs but louder sound from the speakers.
Re: Suggestions on how to add extra speakers
Personally I think your dumb if you put 2 additional speakers in. That to me, means you dont know what your doing...Sorry if you take that the wrong way.
Re: Suggestions on how to add extra speakers
lol...i know very well what i am doing..i just wanted opinions on mounting locations....i dont know how you guys roll in kansas but here in Jersey and New York city we like our music as loud as possible...(No disrespect towards you or Kansas). Thanx for you opinion anyway.
By the way..i want to add 4 additional speakers...not just 2.

Re: Suggestions on how to add extra speakers
not 2 b an *** or nothing why dont u just get better speakers.or switch to sometjing that can give you a type of surround sound thing going in your car.(2 in the front 2 in the back then one in the center of your dash. thats all you realy need.are cars are not dunks or sitting on twentys.
Re: Suggestions on how to add extra speakers
Well if you actually want good sound quality with the loudness you get better speakers with a higher decibal rating. I got a full type r system now(just finished with the type R 6x9s in the back), trust me, I listen to loud music. More is not always the answer...What kind of alpine 6x9s and kicker fronts do you have and how powerful is the amp?
EDIT: Which is meaning im agreeing with triz now that i read the other replys.

Re: Suggestions on how to add extra speakers
lol i like that idea...of 4 speakers and one in the middle creating a surround sound...im def..gonna see how that sounds....As far as my current speakers the 6x9s are 85watts rms each...and the kickers are 50 watts rms each...and the amp is 240 watts rms.
Re: Suggestions on how to add extra speakers
You know exactly what speakers they are? Like alpine type s or the parts number of the speakers? I can tell you more from that.
Surround sound is really cool especially if you have a dvd player in your car to watch movies with.

Re: Suggestions on how to add extra speakers
Lol im going to stop posting in this after this post, im being a post *****.
I personally would go with the setup below. It would be 100rms instead of 50rms i believe you said, which will help your speakers catch up to the loudness of your subs.
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_500MRPF...00.html?tp=115 - or other higher rms wattage 4 channel amp
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_500SPR1...3S.html?tp=106 - or other higher db/rms 5 1/4 speaker
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_500SPR6...9C.html?tp=105 or other higher db/rms 6x9 speaker
That setup would really help increase the loudness of your stereo. Im using alpine as you seem like them and I do too as I have a full alpine system <--other than head unit.
So that is what I would do instead of all the extra work of adding 4 more speakers. I honestly believe this would sound better and be as loud as adding more speakers. The only way I would personally install 8 total speakers is to say I have 8 speakers I guess. Once again this is my opinion from the experience i have with car audio. <-- lol im only 20 years old. Its like when you have a bunch of mismatched 12 in subs in a car, it normally sounds like ****!!! So thats my advice sorry for being a post *****, just trying to help and i dont want to do my speech preperation...Also just because I sent crutchfield links, im not saying buy from them. Their to expensive...Later.

Re: Suggestions on how to add extra speakers
WHATEVER YOU DO... don't put them in a little 6x9 box and put it in your back window. I will have to get somebody to throw something at you for being rice. Kick panels are a great idea because they aim the noise up at your face. I'm sure you could replace the factory tweets, it might just take some work.
