Civic 2003 HeadUnit Problems!
Civic 2003 HeadUnit Problems!
hi everyone
i recently tried installing a head unit into my honda civic 2003!
but i couldn't get hold of a harness so i was told to hard wire it, cut the head of and just solder the new wires on. But when i did this, it never worked, the unit turned on and made a buzzing noise, like the CD reading noise but nothing else happened. After this i noticed the central locking was no longer working... so at the end i reinstalled the old plug back by just soldering the wires back together (same color), but the old head unit doesnt even work.
so now the new head unit and the old one + central locking is not working in the car
has anyone got some tips? on what i should do
thanks for the help

Re: Civic 2003 HeadUnit Problems!
it actually is very possibly a fuse. after re-reading the problem, i now doubt its the ground. but its still a possibility. you may have ****ed up your car by cutting the harness. in some cars, the central locking is in the factory alarm-equippedd headunit. if your car has it, you probably set it off or something. check all fuses and good luck. im not particulary knowlegedable about this, if you cant tell.

Re: Civic 2003 HeadUnit Problems!
The #9 10 Amp fuse in the under-hood fuse box is named "back up" (it is for some items that require constant power)
On your headunit wiring in most cases the constant +12 Volt is the yellow wire and the switched +12 Volts is the red wire ( the headunits wires not the cars wires)
Check the fuse and check these connections that you made when installing.
