dash kit with kenwood kdc-mp8017

just got my metra dash kit that keeps the bottom open thingy and my deck the kenwood mp3 player model kdc-mp8017. i just finish installing it but there is a problem. the deck doesn't go thru the slot on the metra kit to be flat and even with the kit. it don't fit the kit. the kit's openning is too small for it. the deck goes thru the back until it hit the metra kit and thats it. does anyone has this problem? what other dash kit do you recommend?

I can't believe I missed this one.. sorry bro..

I use the Metra kit myself without troubles, but as far as things go the Scoche kit seems to be the one to get for best fit and finish and better reliability.

Cheers

Are you sliding the deck in from the back or front of the kit? Try inserting the back of the deck into the front of the kit. That is how i did it with my scosche (sp?) kit and it worked fine. I'm not really sure about the metra kit.
