No idea what to do

i have no clue where to begin when it comes to upgrading speakers and such. i would like to replace the four speakers in my car and someday add a sub. i was wondering what to do when it comes to amps. someone tole me if i wanted four speakers and a sub then i should buy 2 amps. then someone else told me i should just buy a five channel amp. please help me better understand what i should do in this situation.

Re: No idea what to do

yea making spacers for the front speakers is a pain in the ***. it really depends on what you want. if you want some bass i'd get a sub with a seperate amp. then use a different amp to power the 4 speakers.do you have a HU? if not i would start there

Re: No idea what to do

yea i forgotr about that....
my speakers both front and rear are stoopid this way, i had Fusion 6.5" 2-way w/adj tweets and the magnet for the rears were hitting the torsion bar for the trunk so i couldnt use em, and i figured the front was just as bad maybe hitting the window inside?

Re: No idea what to do

You don't have to have the speakers amped. I don't and I love mine (finally blew though after 3-1/2 years). 20/35 volume on an Alpine HU with a 300RMS amp running 2 12s and unamped 3-way fronts and 4-way rears is plenty loud. Eclipse 6-1/2 in front and 6x9 in rear. Drop in and they work. Should be around $120 a pair too.
Its a cheap system but its enough to satisfy my audio-file side and shake the roof of my coupe

Re: No idea what to do

read the sticky here for the front door speakers. it's really not that hard to get speakers to fit.

Re: No idea what to do

I made my front door speaker hole bigger and drilled my own holes I didnt use spacers so my window doesnt close all the way.

I made the hole bigger by cutting the metal with metal cutters
