where to ground?
I'm going to be mounting my new amp at the front of the trunk (under the latch basically), would it be safe for me to run my ground to the bolt you're talking about or should I find something closer?
its best to bolt as close to teh amp as possible. i personally use the screws taht hold teh carpeting down....there are four of them..... i crank them down with a locking wrench, i get a real good connection. you have to grind the spot first tho, otherwise, youll get a bad connection, but this is true no matter where you ground. I used a dremel. worked GREAT. (and no cables running from the cabin to teh trunk )

I always do that with installs with teh amp under the seat, but teh trunk? >>
Yeah. If you mount your amps on the back seats or close to them that's only a 2 foot long ground. If your using 4 guage it's More than sufficient..and no gringing.

I used the trunck latch, took it off, ground it down a lil, stuck the bare end of the wire in there, and voila! but i only have 8 guage wire, also the wire is run under everything, so you can't see it at all!! ut be careful if you ever are lookin for a ground and use a voltmeter, you can get false grounds, it happened to me once in my old car, looked like it should've been a good ground, and it was, for like one song, then the amp went into protection, o well, learn from your mistakes!

the bolt isn't anodized and the threads on the bolt and the hole it goes are unpainted.. no need to grind and scuff paint.. from the trunk latch to the seat bolt there was'nt even 1 ohm of resistance.

Right behind the rear seats there is a cross member. It will rise above a little bit. Just scrape off all the paint of this, make sure it is bare. Use a drill and a self tapping sheet metal screw witha regualr washer and a self locking washer, and drill in and you are done. That is what I did to my car. I will take pictures of it later this afternoon.
I used the seat belt bolt for the back seat (EX coupe), seems to be working fine for me. Why such a big wire for ground?? I only use an 8ga wire, since that's what I had. Thinking of getting another power block dist. for the ground, much easier/cleaner than running 2 8 ga wires to the same area. Good idea/not? Don't waste the money?
