Need help, Car dies.
Need help, Car dies.
The full story. About 3 months ago I replaced my battery because it would just make a clicking sound when i turned it over. So it was replaced and worked great for about 2 weeks and my car did the same thing. So I thought ok np, maybe its a bad battery. That same weekend, my car was broken into and someone stole my radio, and i forgot about the battery problems. Ok now to the future, i just had my new radio installed this morning, it took me awhile, but my Insurance company replaced it at full cost, and actually upgraded it quite a bit. SO everything was going fine with my battery till tonight, i stopped at the mall, came out and my car was dead. Now I'm running a stock system, Just a aftermarket deck, Tyc headlights and tails, and i have neons but i've used them at most 2 times in 3 years.
So what could it be? Maybe new grounds? Or something alot more expensive, but the problem seems to be with the radio, 2 radios, 2 batteries, = dead car..

Re: Need help, Car dies.
Sounds most like a battery drain problem. I'd say you need to do a standby current draw test to figure out for sure where the drain is.
Got a multi-meter? (or just plain ammeter I suppose?)

I have no meters, i called my dad, and he said about using a ohms meter. But also said by the time i buy it and check it out, it might be cheaper just to take it to a shop.
Re: Need help, Car dies.
thats bull, u can test alternators, wal-mart can test alternators, i think a parts store can too, go to orielys or advanceauto they can for sure, if it was ur alternator, ud have a battery light on ur dash, its prolly a bad battery, it happens
