Rep Power: 0 Amp install help
I just recently got this 05 civic so i dont know my way around it to great. Anyway below is a picture of the deck i have in it im not sure what it is but im pretty sure its a honda option deck. So my question is will this deck have an output for a amp/sub, also will is have a amp remote wire. If not is there somthing I can buy to get those two things on the deck, because i dont really wanna remove it because its half decent and matchs the interior lights. Also could someone point me in the directon of a DIY deck removal.
Thanks all its really appreciated

Rep Power: 0 There is a DIY head unit removal on this site that is pretty good. As for having pre-outs for a amp on that head unit, I cannot say, but there are ways of connecting an amp without preouts. The remote lead simply connects to the 12volt accesory power wire that leads to the head unit. If you have a digital multimeter, it will be the wire that reads 12+volts when the key is turned to the accesory on postion, or when the car is turned all the way on. Then, if your amp has high level inputs, you can connect them to your speakers to recieve and audio signal. If you dont want to do it that way, and you feel like spending a nice chunk of change, JL Audio makes a magic little box called "cleansweep" that is made for connecting factory stereos to after market amps.

Rep Power: 262 The deck does not have RCA pre-outs for an amp. However, JL audio is not the only solution. There are high level converters. Take a look at the link.

This is not the only brand, but it was the first brand I found on google. I'm not sure what the cleansweep from JL is, but I'm pretty sure it does the same thing.
