Re: Is a power window conversion possible?

This is a great topic that I am very interested in. Anyone happen to successfully complete this procedure?
Any words of advice to the novices that may be thinking about going for it?

I am getting a 05 DX and am interested in making the front 2 windows powered, and maybe the power the doorlocks as well.

Too much headache? or well worth it?

Thanks
Ken

Thumbs up Re: Is a power window conversion possible?

Hello guys!
Well I too have a 98 civic DX but the only thing left to make it ex is the sun roof. Meaning that I got to complete the installation about 5 years ago. I went to ebay and bought all the necessary accesories for the conversion: Motor, actuator (regulator) buttons, SI pannel but you guys are right DX does not have the necessary harnes to complete this. I took the power from the battery and split it for the driver and passenger. I played arround with the wire (I don't expect you to do it) while it was appart and found the In possitive and In negative that brings the power to the buttons, and then found the other out possitive and out negative that went to the motor. They are opertational but I would like to have the door piece wire harness to properly install it.

I did come to and issue 4 years after, the window was becoming off track. May be due to the lack of knowledge on the matter from the mechanic (ME).

By the way, If you say why did'nt you just buy an EX??? Well... cuz is not as fun. That's what Tunning is all about.

Re: Is a power window conversion possible?

Okay, I finally got what I think is all the parts to do this. I got all the motors, actuators, buttons, panels and yes, I have the door harnesses. The only thing I don't have is the other wiring harness that goes from the foot well to the fuse panel. I can still get it but the donor car wasn't letting go of its dash as easily as I would have liked so I couldn't get it out at the time.

So my question is how do I run a couple of my own wires from the floor harnesses in the foot wells up to the fuse panel under the steering wheel? I don't see where in the fuse panel the power window harnesses plug in, does anyone know? I don't want to take my dash apart to trace wires.

If someone can help me with this, I'll write a DIY for doing it.

In the under dash fuse/relay box, the front passenger window is fuse number 22. Front driver window is fuse 23. (for sedans the left rear and right rear fuses are 24 and 25 respectively.) The window relay (type A) is in relay slot 12.

Shouldn't the plugs for the windows already be part of the floor harness?

Re: Is a power window conversion possible?

Honda manual says #22 grn/blk passengers window motor---#23 grn/wht drivers motor.
If thats any help?????????

#13 in the under hood box protects the relay in the under dash box.

Yes, the plugs are already there but the floor harness in my car doesn't have the necessary wires in it so I either have to get the proper harness or run my own wires. Like I said, I have the door harnesses, I just need the floor harnesses that they plug into. These run from the foot wells to the fuse panel.

So what I'm looking for exactly is where the power window wiring plugs into the fuse panel. Not the fuses themselves, right above the fuses is bunch of harnesses plugged in and I don't know which one is the other end of the floor harness for the windows. I can't find it online anywhere. If I can figure out where to plug in the 4-5 wires for the windows I can run them myself.
