Head Unit Fun!
Okay, so I had bought a Sony head unit because I loved it in the store, folds down, buttons, great illuminators and schtuff.
Well, I should have realized a) nothing goes into the car easy and b) the damned stereo is up too high for a fold-down with buttons on the inside.
So: change of plans. But since I've already spend some major cash, major time, and a bit of frustration on this, I want to do it right this time. Hence: q and a
The sony is out - goin to some other happy owner. I don't like it - it sits so high the contrast is odd and when it unfolds it's like the control panel is lying flat - can't read it, etc.
Now I'm thinkin Panasonic CQ-DF602U. I figure silver and blue should look bad-*** next to black and orange and be easier to deal with (I thought All-Black Panel would be cool until I started reaching for *****. UGH.)
Also, I installed the sony with the metra non-pocket dash kit, which I liked the /idea/ of because I want to keep my EX pocket. But it didn't fit, didn't mount right, the weight of the HU wanted to pop the faceplate off. Grr. It just didn't seem solid.
So - questions:
1) Anyone else have a panasonic HU and, how does it fit? (I've seen some pics of people's Panasonic installs that look beauty!) If you've got a great fit tell me what you do to achieve it.
2) I know the scosche kit is supposed to way outclass the metras, but I can't find the scosche kit without the pocket. I really don't want to lose my slick EX door. Specifically: does scosche make a dash kit that will let me keep my door?
3) Other than the HU I mentioned, anyone have any favorites that look great in their ride?
Thanks.

Hmm well I never buy HU's based on looks so I wouldn't know.. But the I use the metra kit without the pocket and I haven't have any probs.. when I used the scoche kit every time My motorized face opened the black plastic face your almost pop out...
If anything take the kit back to where you bought it and exchange it..you may have gotten a defective one.

Umm. Schoshe does not make the kit wouthout the pocket. Currently only Metra makes the non-pocket ket. I highly recommend the head unit I have. I have posted a picture of it for your viewing pleasure. Hehe.. J/K I'm sure that's not what your looking for.
