Head Unit installation

Did a search, but couldn't find an answer....

It seems in replacing the stock head unit, the aftermarket ones don't seem to fit very well in the mounting area, it seems the stock unit has the little curved section on the upper right hand corner. How are you guys getting a good fit? Just wondering..

there is a mounting kit u can buy.. i think one replaces the top and bottom.. with this kit u lose the storage lid that comes on the factory storage bin... and theres a diff kit that is just a lil trim peice that fills the gap were the angled thingy is.. i think the kit is made by Sochse? i dunno how its spelled... ask the store or person u got ur headunit from im sure they will know of an appropiate kit..

I must have gotten the same kit for mine, which eliminates having to get rid of the bottom storage bin. However, you don't need to fill in the space. Once you remove the stock hu, it fits right in.

Just don't get the kit at bestbuy. The texture is a lot different than your normal dash. I need to get a new one mines pissed me off since it was installed almost a year ago. I'm trying to find a kit that doesn't have the little pocket under the cd player. Like in the westwings civic.

I forget the model# but Metra makes a kit that just replaces the top portion. I allows you to keep the bottom flip pocket for us 2k2 owners. However I didn't discover the Metra kit until after I installed my Schoshe kit that replaced the pocket (with a smaller one too).

you can also get the instructions from H and A Accessories. look for the cd player in the 2001/2002 civic section and the instructions are there

I got my Metra kit (replaces the pocket with one that has no door) from PartsExpress.com. They also have the kit that only replaces the top portion and lets you keep the pocket with door.
