Goodies up front
I need to replace my front (stock) speakers but don't know what to replace them with. I have been advised to go with the DEI Studio speakers but would like other ideas. I don't want to have to mod the door, spacers are fine though (easy enough). Thanks!

Well you have ALOT of choices, it just depends on your price range.. a Really good 2-way set will run you a little upward of $350.. a More than decent set can range from $160-300 big one's.
Hovering around the $350 I would Reccomend Focal 165V2's (polyglass) Great sound, great very detailed teweeter, amazing midbass. It's a great value...the DEI Studio's are also a great set as are the Infinity Kappa's, and Kappa Perfects...
It also varies too with what type of music you listen to most and what your preferances are..
cheers

well 6.5's will offer slightly more midbass. Some 5.25 sets may have a little better midrange detail...when it comes to speakers, bigger isn't always better. for 2 way sets I prefer 5.25's because some 6.5 sets can sound a little muddy when you trn it p and the cone gets moving... What kind of wamp will you be using to powerthe components?
I can't express how much I like the DEI Studio's enough. I don't think you can go wrong with a set of them. You shouldn't have to do any modding to your car at all. If you have an EX place the tweeter in the stock tweeter location. If you have a LX/DX you can buy the little stock tweeter panel of get the components with the buil in tweeter. Mowhawkboom.. where did you hear that the DEI studio's were made by infinity? I have had DEI's in my car for 3 years now and I have never heard that. I have a pretty good friend of mine who is a DEI retailer and I have never heard that from him. I always thought that DEI made their own products, ALL OF THEM, Viper, Python (excluding Clifford and Avital since they just purchased them) and their whole speaker line. The Pro's, the Pro +, the Studio's, the Comp X. If you not in a big hurry I would wait a few weeks to see what Viper Audio is going to have. (Also made by DEI)

Well Mohawk, I currently have a profile clarus 75x2 RMS amp powering my one MTX 6000. I was planning on getting one kicker L7 and the MTX D class amp you've been talking about with me to power that. I figured that I would then use that profile to power my new 5.25s up front. I know its not the best amp, but isn't it better than the HU? Later on I would replace that amp too, but not until after some more money has been saved.
thoughts?

Sounds good so far.. the Profile amp isn't the greatest..ut it's by far no the worse .. it'll be better than HU for sure..SO just upgrade things and money and desire to get new stuff come along dude..

the 250D will bump both subs, but won't boom them good though.. Rememebr by doubling the power you only gain 3 DB's. Plotting an L5 with our cars cabin gain,, 325RMS (the MTX amp are pretty underrated) you should be hitting 121-123 DBS which is the point where your ears will sense minor pain from the pressure.
