Battery Terminal Connectors - ?questions?

Ours are 1/2" in diameter, right? I want to buy those little battery terminal connectors, what should I look for and where should I look? Pro's? Con's? I might install a system later on, but even if I don't then I'll maybe transplant these onto my next ride (like in 10+ years, haha).

Hey Dude,

Battery connectors are 1/2" Advantage is you can run 4 guage wire from your alternator to battery directly. get a more solid connection. Looks better. Can handle more current. MUCH less prone to errosion. Most have 2 extra 8 guage holes for other goodies you may want to add . Don't buy cheap one's even if theya re gold plated. The flux they use for the plating adds resistance and will actually corrode. Tsunami, Lighting Audio, Stinger and Phoenix gold make good one's... TIFF, Monster Cable, and Streetwires make awesome one's .

Cheers
Mohawk

Why are there ones for positive and negative terminals? Are they optimized for each one or something, or are they just labeled? Should I get one positive one and one negative one?

Basically.. It's like putting a "this side up on the bottom of a jeep .. the +/- is just so that you don't get messed up after installing them cause you'll no longer have the color coded boots...

I'm thinking of either the MBC2, or the TMC2 from Monster Cable. Read this little review: NEW MONSTER® CAR POWER™ LINE What do you think? Which one should I chose? One is lower priced than the other, but I don't understand the other differences.

Grey - All of the big name brand ones...Monster Cable, Stinger, Lightening Audio...they are all great and are all really about the same thing as far as quality. Wiring & accessories is a huge market in car audio and it simply comes down to brand loyalty, how much you want to spend, what will look cool in your install, etc. If you are an autosound competitor, customer service has a very big part in the purchasing decision. I personally use the Stinger Expert Series. My battery terminals w covers cost me about $65 each. Are they over priced? Sure they are, but I love the look and functionality of the Expert Series, the Stinger brand, and the guys that run the company. You said you were interested in Monster Cable? Monster Cable is another excellent brand to run with and is used by some of the top autosound competitors as well. Just get what looks cool to you and will handle the guage wire you are wanting to use and go for it. You can't go wrong with any of the big names.

What about the two that I listed? Do they both have the outputs for connecting up the stock wires? I don't understand the description they give too well.

Also, what do you guys think of these stores? They're all the same store because they all have the same telephone numbers and addresses, but there's three dirrefernt URL's. They also don't describe the product as well as other sites and they don't carry a picture. They have great prices though! Do you guys think it's a scam?

Sites that don't carry a pocture often have problems shipping you the wrong item. Nic choice though on Terminals..look good. Have the extra accessory outputs.....

hey SQ..How's this for overpriced.. I got limited Edition Tsunami Lock-Nut 1/0 gauge terminal set. the Platinum plated one's .. just don't ask what I paid..lol..Car audio at times is the death of me.. I swear you'll see one of my kidneys on EBAY soon for extra $$ for new amps or something.

Just an answer to your question about the positive terminal and the ground terminal. They are actually two different sizes, you can't really tell, but once you try to put a positive terminal onto the ground post, you'll see that they are a little different in size.

I hear ya man, this system is going to drive me to bankruptcy but at least I'll go down jammin'! Men and their toys! He Who Dies With The Most Toys Wins!

Grey - go to the Monster Cable website and look at the online dealers they have listed, more reliable sources for the stuff.

Thanks for the responses guys. One more question. What guage wire is the stock wiring for the stock battery terminals?
