Need help with dash

Need help with dash hi, i got a problem and did some research but didnt found anything. i have a dx 2005 and i got the "thing that has the tachometer and the speedometer" (sorry, dont know how it is called) from an ex 2004. both of the units have a blue conector and a green conector. but when i conect the ex one it doenst do anything, not even with the blue conector which are the lights. can someone tell me if it is the "dash thingy" that is screwed or do i need to do something to the car before? or can someone atleast point me in the right direction? (links or something?) Thanks a lot
