Sealed or Bandpass?
Sealed or Bandpass?
i currently have my 12" rockford in a bandpass box..it was like that when i bought it off a friend, but i'm thinking of building a nice sealed box. so basicly i just want peoples opinion whether or not i should keep it in the bandpass or switch to sealed? i sort of like the bass better in a sealed box, it gives you the good old hair-standing-up on the back of your neck feel, heh. but with my bandpass, its just a really good clear low bass..
bandpass is only good at a certain frequency, it will only peak at that frequency to produce the best sound. I'd say go ported also, although it depends whether u want SPL or SQ. I find with ported you get the best of both.
single sub in a bandpass, yea but it doesnt put out the nice responsive bass like a small child is kicking your seat. make a nice sealed box and then tune port it on the side up by the top of the box and make sure the ported cardboard inside the box is only about 1" from the other side of the box, trust me youll love the response
