Installing RF P162S In 03 Coupe

I got a set of Rockford Fosgate P162S. These things seem to have a pretty deep mounting depth. I know lots of people talk about a 3/4" or 1" adapter, but my speakers mounting depth is 3". Do I need to go get these exchanged for something with a smaller mounting depth, or is there another solution? I suppose I cut cut a bigger hole, but I am trying to avoid that.

Yeah that looks pretty damn thick. Dude I think you ordered 6.5 midrange woofers instead of speakers!!

Yeah... Guy at the shop said it's a decent mid, so I said sure, didn't realize the mounting hole was such an issue =/

Well the mounting hole really isn't an issue.. but frankly the RF mids and highs just aren't that great. Anyway, your only option is really to get a spacer like you said (Best Buy and Circuit City both carry some that will work nicely). Otherwise you'll need to go with a smaller mounting depth.. some suggestions would be Kenwood, Pioneer, or even Alpine. RF speakers all have insane mounting depths for some reason.

Yeah, spacer won't work tho, I think the only option I have if I want to sue these is to cut out a lil of the door, only need 1/2" or so all around the existing hole for this to work. Just looking for better options before I cut =/

Ohh the diameter is too small... then yeah you can cut away from the door with an airsaw.

Did it Today. Prety easy to do. I used a 3/4" spacer + 2 layers of Dynamat and had good clearance to the window and cutting a lil from the door was no prob. Thanks for the help!
