2-way or 3-way

Well I might be finally getting a job, so i can maybe afford speakers in not too long..... so i got a few major questions...

1) Can i run speakers like Infinity Kappa's off the stock HU?

2) What is the biggest size that will fit in a 2001 LX Sedan?

3) Are 2 or 3 way better for over all sound quality (no sub at this point-- maybe later)?

4) If i buy speakers online from say e-bay or crutchfield and take it into my local audio shop, will they install them for me ? (speculation i guess-- but for those who have experience or work at a place like that)

Thanks, oh, and i did try searching.... got conflicting if any answers.

if i were you i would not run anything off the factory HU
it will sound aight but it could start messing up on u like ur speakers starting to cut out
i was runnin my system for like 2 months and i changed out the HU this morning
and it sounds alot better
I am running 2 way and it sounds good
but if ur not goin to be running a sub and just amps i would invest in a good crossover and it but i am not so sure how it would sound cause if u have a lot of power runnin to the speakers and runnin full frequency ur bass my sound distorted but u would have to play around with it to get it sounding like u want it to
and a local stereo place would install the speakers for you for the right $$$$
and i am not sure about ur sizes i have a coupe and not REAL SURE if they are the same or diff
hope that helps
goodluck

most shops will install anything that you bring in. a simple speaker install should be relatively cheap.

wolfos............

DIY!!!!!.....thats more exciting & u can feel thet ur car is a PART OF U b'coz u MADE HIM/HER.......

i'll suggest get a component on front (or 3-way is ok) & 2-way on rear (both 6.5), never 3-way on rear that will cause too much high-F & will ruin ur rear-fill

about the mounting depth, that is a problem on front but not on the rear, what i do on the front is put my new speaker on top of the stock speakers (i make a mod on the stocks, so that i'll just act as spacers, you have to destro it though)

on the rear, nuts & big washer will fix it u dont have to make any hole, i use a POLK 6.5

Well if you get an installer to do it it's a little over an hour labor. and they'll charge you about $20 for the front door speaker spacers. I fit Focal's in mine and I can still just just barely roll down my window, so mounting depth isn't a huge concern.

get 2 ways for the rear, 3 ways, r preferably components for the front.

Cheers

I run 5 1/4 3ways in front and 6x9 3ways in back. I use my hu to adjust for perfect fill, limit bass to the 5 1/4's, and use a sub for the lows. My tweets are still stock.

Ok... well one concern..... components in front..... i have an LX... so no tweeter mounts, is that a problem? Also... what is the depth in the front? I think right now i want some infinity kappa either 63.3 or 62.3 thinking maybe the 3-ways in front and the 2-way's in back? how does that sound? would it fit? opinions are highly valued.... thanks

just fair warning...fitting the fronts is tricky. you might need to make a custom ring out of MDF to get yourself enough room to fit that magnet. i had to do that with my Pioneer Premier's. No biggy...But just dont get pissed off when you realize you got no room and the car's half apart and you have to leave at 6 to meet your girl bla bla...haha. Anyways, yeah dont run nothin off the factory HU ... get a new HU first, and subs, and then worry about replacing your stock speakers...TRUST me! =) Always replace HU first.....then work your way to amps and subs then finally wrap it all up by going all around1

if you wanna put some components in , go to honda get the Ex tweeter pods and moutn them there , that isnt the proper speaker placement but ohh well we all cant fabricate kick panels and whos got 400 + dollars for someone to make them ... and placement of the speaker on the door is kinda a pain in the *** , but you dont have to fabricate any brakcets , go to the local stereo shop, and tell them to get the American international 5.25 to 6.5 adapator plate and bang there in

Yeah But Fabricating spacers is more fun.... but then again in our cars the best placement for the tweeters is not in kicks but in the A-pillars for best imaging and depth. As for fittign speakers in the door. with enough patients I squeeze Focal 165k3 components...the 6.5" Midbass to alotta work to get into the door and still roll my windows down.. but it worked. the kickpanels aren't too fun either because you have to relocate the ECU..one wire at a time, 60 damn wires..that wasn't fun... but for mounting depth.. don't worry much.. you can buy the Scoche speaker spacers if the mounting depth on yuor speakers isn;t too deep. If the speaker has a deep mounting depth and a big magnet.. get ready to shave plastic off your door speaker grill for clearance.

Cheers

This is the first i heard that 2ways are better than 3ways so i'd like someone to explain that to me... it jsut doesn't seem to make sence to me. I'm not ultra knowledgeable about this but a 3-way in bed i better than a 2-way why woulnd't it be the same w/ speakers.

I originally bought 6.5" kappa 3ways for my doors and rear dash. I couldn't get the 6.5's in the door (i didn't even attempt modding anything cause it looked like the depth wouln't work. I returned them for 6.5" reference components and left the 6.5" 3-way kappas in the rear.

any way if you go to daniel420.com then you can see where i had my tweeters placed.

When it all started i planned to do the whole install myself. A friend and i ran the amp and did the rearspeakers and subs but when it came to doing the door that was a different issue. i took apart the door and had all sorts of trouble doing it. then finally got the factory speakers out and to my suprise/shock/dismay the hole from the speaker was a crazy shape and too small for that matter. I was sooooo mad I returned the speakers for the components and when they arrived i too it to a shop and said, "Here, take this, all of this ****. here are the keys to my car. I'm gonna come back after work and i want it all installed and working please..."

when i returned after work my stuff was installed and they even re positioned my amps, mounted them to the back seat... re-ran my cap and loomed all the wire... I was pretty happy and the sound was incredible.
